The job
A sports club is quiet in the middle of the day and packed from late afternoon into the night. That is the opposite of when solar panels produce, so panels on their own would only take a small bite out of the bill.
The batteries fix that. The panels charge them through the quiet afternoon and the club runs on that stored power all evening, instead of buying it from the grid at the most expensive time of day.
